Mayor’s Message

I am more proud than ever to be the Mayor of Burlingame. As a City, we have been faced with the most difficult of economic times and our community has stepped up to the challenge. Instead of losing hope in a difficult time like this, I have chosen to view this challenge with a different angle. The voters of Burlingame overwhelmingly supported the Storm Drain measure with a 63.4% approval.  The passing of this measure combined with the budget reductions have allowed Burlingame to successfully balance our budget this year. We have proven that with hard work and some difficult decisions, we can get through this economic crisis together.

Expert on Economic development Recruited to boost revenue

Even before the severe economic downturn I understood it was necessary for Burlingame to develop its revenue base.  In 2007 in collaboration with City Staff we designated a staff person, Patricia Love, www.burlingame.org/Index.aspx ,to work specifically on economic development and increasing revenue.
